We believe that God is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign Creator of all things (Gen 1:1; Col 1:15-17).
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human (John 10:33), that He was born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14; Mat. 1:23; Luke 1:34-35), lived a sinless life (Heb. 4:15, 7:26), provided for the atonement of our sins by His substitutionary death on the cross (1 Cor. 15:3; Eph 1:7; Heb. 2:9), was bodily raised from the dead (John 11:25; 1 Cor. 15:4), ascended back to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), and ever lives to make intercession for us.
We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ to the earth (Acts 1:11; Rev. 19:11-16). He will return with His saints and set up a kingdom of which there will be no end. We believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church where all believers will meet the Lord in the air and be taken out of this world prior to the Tribulation that will come upon the earth (Isa 26:20; Matt 24:29-31; Lk 21:36; Rom 1:18, 5:9; I Thess 1:10, 4:13-16, 5:9; II Pt 2:7-9; Rev 3:10, 5:7-10, 7:13-14).
We believe that after Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem (Acts 2) enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world (Matt 28:18-20), an obligation shared by all believers today.
We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's Agape love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
We believe worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.
We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped.
We believe worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.
We believe in all the basic doctrines of historic Christianity.
We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:21)
We believe that God is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; Mat. 28:19; John 10:30)
STATEMENT
OF FAITH
Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.
