Psalm 42:11

Psalm 42:11 (ESV):11  Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”

Discouragement is something we all face. Even our souls can feel down at times. It is essential to preach the message of hope to ourselves, lest we slip into the abyss of depression. God is our hope, and He will never fail us.

The sons of Korah were Levites who served as worship leaders before the Lord during David’s time. They wrote this psalm for a reason. Life can be hard, and if we allow our feelings to guide us, we will become discouraged. They understood the right way to combat discouragement: by preaching hope to themselves. God is our Savior and our rescue. He will not leave us or forsake us. He is the God of our salvation, and we hope in Him alone. This message will encourage any discouraged soul!

Does it feel like God has abandoned you? Is your soul discouraged today? Take your eyes off your problems and fix them on Jesus. He is our hope. He has overcome sin and the grave on your behalf and can do the same in any circumstance you face. Stop allowing your soul to be overwhelmed by emotions, and preach the Good News to yourself. It is our hope in all things. Your soul will be lifted, and you will praise our King for all He has done! Hope in God—amen?

Father, we thank You for being our hope in all things. Remind us to take our eyes off ourselves and fix them on You. You are our only hope, and we must continually encourage our souls with this truth. Take Your rightful place in our hearts and encourage us, we pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.
