Psalm 40:3

Psalm 40:3 (ESV): “3 He put a new song in my mouth,a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.”

It is impossible to be born again and not change. God fills our hearts with a new song when we crown Jesus as the Lord of our lives. This is one of the ways we become witnesses for Him.

As a musician, David appreciated the illustration that our lives are like songs to God. When we are born again, our song changes. We stop singing of profane things and begin to sing of the King and His Kingdom. We rejoice in the redeeming work He has done through the Cross. David knew that as people heard this new sound coming from the lips of the redeemed, many would desire to know Him too.

What song are you singing? Are you a worship song on display before the world? Understand that we are God’s symphony, and the world is His audience. We don’t have to sing loudly, but we do have to sing. How can we not? If Christ has wiped your sins away, how can you not sing praises to His name? Assess the song you are singing, for it tells the story of your heart! Amen?

Father, thank You for putting a new song in the hearts of the redeemed. Help us to sing of the things You’ve done so that others may hear of Your wondrous love. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
