1 Kings 21:19;23 (ESV): 19 And you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Have you killed and also taken possession?” ’ And you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your own blood.”…23 And of Jezebel the Lord also said, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel within the walls of Jezreel.’”
God is faithful to judge the wicked. His righteousness requires it. Thankfully, there is grace and forgiveness for those in Christ, but woe to the one who isn't!
Ahab desired the vineyard of Naboth in Jezreel. He wouldn't sell it to Ahab, so Jezebel devised an evil plan to murder Naboth. After it was accomplished, the Lord sent Elijah to pronounce judgment upon the house of Ahab. All males in his family would be cut off from Israel, and God would slay him with a pack of wild dogs. Jezebel had the same fate. Interestingly, Ahab repented, and God gave him grace. Jezebel did not, and she was eaten by the dogs (2 Kgs 9:30-33).
Are you growing weary of waiting for the judgment of the wicked? We can become like the martyrs crying out from beneath the throne, “How long, O, Lord (Rev 6:10).” Understand, it’s just a matter of time. God is patient. He desires that no man would perish. For those who won’t, the Lord will judge them. Pray for the wicked in our world today. God will soon reign down His wrath upon them. The days are evil but the Gospel can save anyone. Pray that the wicked would come to Christ! Amen?
Father, we lift every wicked ruler and authority to You. Draw them to a place of repentance. You can save to the uttermost. Have Your way and keep Your church patient we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
