Zechariah 14:9 (ESV): "And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one."
Have you ever waited for a day with such great anticipation you could hardly stand it? Remember how excited you were when it finally came to fruition? That is every Christian at the coming of Jesus Christ.
Zechariah was given the vision of Jesus coming back in His glory to reclaim the throne in Jerusalem. He will descend as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. No King will rival Him!He will rule with an iron scepter (Ps 2:9; Rev 2:27), anyone who rises up in rebellion will be judged immediately. There will be but one Lord and one language (Zeph 3:9). How glorious will that be?No more language barrier. You and I will be able to communicate with everyone. Global fellowship will finally be possible without having to learn another language. It will be like it was prior to the Tower of Babel.
The anticipation is great as we wait for thereturn of our Lord. In the meantime, be focused on the mission. Let your excitement move you to take the Gospel to the streets. For when the fullness of the Gentiles has come in (Ro 11:25) the Lord will rapture His church (1 Thess 4:17) invoking the coming of Christ after the seven year Tribulation. Even so come, Lord Jesus come!Maranatha!
Father, we wait with great anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus. It is the day in human history when the world will finally see Jesus as He really is, King of all creation. May we not be slack in declaring the Gospel as we wait.May the anticipation motivate us to prioritize accordingly we pray in Jesus name, amen!
