Romans 8:3-4

Romans 8:3–4 (ESV): "3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

Imagine entering a court of law and being convicted of a serious crime that dealt you a life sentence.  Once convicted you would be utterly helpless, no one on planet earth could save you.  That was once your position before God, guilty and condemned, and nobody could do a thing about it.  So God did the unthinkable and sent Jesus on our behalf to satisfy the righteous requirements of the law.  What amazing grace.

Paul reminds the Roman believers what a mess they were once in, destined for hell without any hope through the law. The very thing the Jews prided themselves in was their condemner.  Thus God sent Jesus.  He would become our righteousness.  He would satisfy the law for those who would believe in Him. The proof of your belief is in your walk.  You no longer walk in the flesh but in the Spirit.  For that person there is no condemnation (Ro 8:1).

You don't have to be stuck in a hopeless situation Christian because God sent Jesus.  He is our rescue from all things.  Look to Him today to bring freedom from whatever it is you are going through.  That is why He came!

Father thank you for seeing us in our helpless situation and sending Your Son. We didn't even know how destitute we were until You revealed it to us.  We know You are our hope and we look to You even now.  We invite You into our mess, may Your will be done we pray in Jesus name, amen.
