Romans 8:18 (ESV): "18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us."
Jesus promised that every Christian will face tribulation and suffering. He said a servant isn't greater than his master, if they persecuted Him they will most certainly persecute us (Jn 15:20).
Paul understood that walking with Jesus comes with hazards, namely, it can cost you your life. However, the cost isn't worth comparing that which awaits those who suffer for the Lord! The glory that awaits us is in a different galaxy in comparison to our present suffering.
The encouragement by Paul here is to suffer well. For no matter what you face Christian, God has something far greater for you in eternity. Don't trade this momentary affliction for eternal glory that awaits you. It's not a fair trade in the least bit! Suffer like a good soldier, fight the good fight even when it feels like your losing. For we know that in the end we win. There is a crown of glory for every bit of suffering we endure. So suffer well Christian.
Father we thank You that your big enough to see us through the suffering we endure here on earth and that You reward us for standing firm. Keep us strong Father. Help us to rely on Your strength and power as we deal with the hazards of being a Christian. May it all be to Your glory we pray in Jesus name, amen!
