Romans 15:1-3

Romans 15:1–3 (ESV): "We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."

The idea of survival of the fittest isn't a biblical concept. The strong are to help the weak. No person left behind is a better description to illustrate how believers are to live with one another. Jesus modeled this perfectly for us. "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly (Ro 5:9)."

The body of Christ is meant to be a support to one another. We all face trials that leave us weak and weary. Those who are strong in the body are to come alongside those who are weak and help them in their struggles. We are to be a band of brothers that sees a man down and runs into the fight to help them. Jesus came for us when we had no hope of being rescued and we are to do the same for one another!

Are you a help to those in need Christian? Are you building up those who have fallen or are you leaving them behind? We are the body of Christ! We should be like Jesus when it comes to the weak in our midst. We don't judge the fallen, we pursue them and help them regain strength so they can get in the fight again. Forsake the temptation to please yourself and get in the trenches and help your fellow brother. Amen?

Father, we thank You that when we are weak we are strong in Christ. We thank You that You sent a rescue when we fell. You were not willing to leave anyone behind so let us do the same. Fill us with strength so we can be a support to others we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
