Romans 13:12-14

Romans 13:12-14 (ESV): "12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires."

The way we walk in this world as a believer is a choice. The unbeliever has no choice but to sin, we on the other hand choose to sin. Thus we are commanded to walk properly by casting off the works of darkness and putting on Christ, who is our armor of light. We must wake up to do so.

The reminder that our salvation is nearer than first believed is an alarm clock to wake up those who are asleep. The night is gone and the day has come. It's time to wake up and walk right with the Lord. Some are walking and talking in their sleep. It's time to cast off the sleep clothes and put on our work clothes. We must cast off darkness before we can put on Christ. It's a choice! We have been given an armor of light in Christ but we have to put it on.

Are you currently asleep spiritually? Are you intentional about your walk by casting off darkness and putting on Christ our armor of light? Take a moment and consider whether you are just going through the motions or fighting the good fight. A person asleep will remain in darkness. Wake up and put on your work clothes. Time is drawing to an end where you will no longer be able to work. Awake and then walk in the light! Amen?

Father, we thank You for always telling us the truth. We are in desperate need of putting on Christ. Help us to choose to walk in Him and not in our flesh. When we wander off and fall back asleep awaken us so we can get back to work we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
