Romans 12:4-8

Romans 12:4–8 (ESV): "4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness."

The greatest tragedy that can occur with the body of Christ is for members thereof to not use their spiritual gifting to encourage and build up the body. That is straight-up selfish.

Christians are part of a body. There are many members but different functions. When the body is working properly all members are contributing to the whole. A dysfunctional body has members not doing their part and thus it hurts the body. The Holy Spirit has gifted each member to be a bless and build up the body, so use your gifting to so! It's why your gifted.

How has the Spirit gifted you? Is it prophecy, faith, service, teaching, exhortation, generosity, leadership, zeal, or mercy? Whatever gift you've been given use it with cheerfulness to bless the body. If you don't know what gift you might have, pray and seek God. He will show you. Everyone has a gift and function within the body, amen?

Father, we thank You for your goodness and grace and for blessing us with gifts to bless Your body with. Help us to never forsake using them for the benefit of the body we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
