Romans 1:11-12

Romans 1:11–12 (ESV): "11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— 12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine."

When God's people gather together it's for the mutual impartation of the gifts of the Spirit, that we might strengthen and encourage each other with our faith. That is why it is important we don't neglect to meet (Heb 10:25).

Paul had never been to Rome so he was writing to brothers and sisters he had only heard about. Their testimony was so encouraging to him that he longed to visit them and mutually share in the impartation of the gifts of the Spirit for further strength and encouragement. Paul prayed daily for this church and for the opportunity to gather with them and to preach the Gospel in Rome.

When you gather with God's people do you do so with the heart to give and not just get? The body of Christ is equipped with spiritual gifts to bless each other. If you neglect to gather or impart your gifting while together then you are robbing the body of how God might want to use you to strengthen and encourage them as well as missing out on that for yourself. Be intentional about being used by God when the body of Christ gathers. You won't just be a blessing but will be blessed beyond anything you could imagine. Amen?

Father, we thank You that You have designed the body of Christ to be ministers to each other. May we not forsake the gathering and be intentional about participating when we come. Build us up through one another we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
