Revelation 20:1-3

Revelation 20:1–3 (ESV): "Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while."

Imagine a world with no Satan. What will it be like to have no external deception or pressure to satisfy the flesh. It will be revealed just how influential he really is for after one thousand years he will deceive the entire world once again to reject King Jesus.

After the battle of Armageddon takes place John sees an unnamed angel come down and bind Satan with a great chain. This demonstrates that Satan is not the counter equal to God. The Father, Son or Holy Spirit do not bind him, not is it Michael or Gabriel but an unnamed angel. He is bound during the millennial reign of Christ and at the end of one thousand years is loosed and deceives the nation once again. It will be the final act before the Great White Throne judgment. Those who live during the millennial reign will be compliant to Christ but not all will be sold out to Him. Once Satan is loosed the true heart of man will be revealed.

Understand, Satan is not fully to blame for the sin of mankind. We have been given a will to freely operate within. Just as Adam and Eve were born sinless and yet still sinned so too will those who are born during the millennial reign have the opportunity to act as they will. Satan can only deceive, he cannot make us sin. That is why it is so important that we fill ourselves with the truth of God's Word so that when Satan tries to deceive us we can resist him. Don't give the enemy credit for your sinfulness. That's all on you. Walk in the Spirit Christian and you will not satisfy the lusts of the flesh (Gal 5:16).

Father we thank You for Your redeeming power that we can be born again to a living hope. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit we have been given the ability to withstand the enemy. Help us to walk in the Spirit. Keep us from allowing our hearts to be deceived. Transform us and change us that we would love You more than ourselves that when temptation comes we can easily resist we pray in Jesus name, amen.
