Revelation 16:8-11

Revelation 16:8–11 (ESV): "8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds."

Grace is what turns sinful man to a holy God. Many in our world today have already decided not to receive the grace of God. No matter what the Lord does they will not bow their knee. What a tragic heart condition.

John sees the fourth and fifth angels pour their bowls of judgment out on the world. The fourth bowl brings heat that scorches those who are marked with the number of the beast and worship his image. This is perhaps a solar explosion that will produce rays that will scorch the people.

The fifth plague creates a total darkness on those who belong to the beast. Many consider it a spiritual darkness but there is no reason to think that. The ninth plague on Egypt was a literal darkness (Ex 10:21-22). This is no doubt a preview of Hell where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The pain and anguish of the boils and the burns is just the start of what will be experienced for all of eternity. Sadly, although they know these plagues are from God they will refuse to repent. It's a total rejection of His grace.

How are you responding to the grace of God Christian? Are you rejecting the still small voice with hardness of heart? A refusal to repent is telling of the condition of the heart. Beware that you don't allow your heart to become so hard that you trample on the grace given. Repent of your sin and receive the forgiveness and restoration. Stay healthy and obedient. What a blessing that we have been given grace. Something we should never take for granted!

Father we thank You for Your grace that was poured out on the cross. Protect us from rejecting it by refusing to repent. May our sin produce a godly sorrow that leads us to true repentance. We turn away even now and confess our sin receiving the grace of Jesus Christ. Forgive us and empower us to reject our flesh we pray in Jesus name, amen.
