Revelation 14:6-10

Revelation 14:6–10 (ESV): 6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 7 And he said with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water." 8 Another angel, a second, followed, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality." 9 And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink the wine of God's wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb."

God has long used angels to deliver messages from heaven to mankind. The word angel literally means messenger. Whether supernatural or human a messenger is responsible for one thing, delivering the message as instructed. Faithfulness is required.

John describes for us three angels that are sent with three different messages directed to mankind during the Tribulation period. The first angel was given a message of hope, the eternal gospel to proclaim. Perhaps this is what Jesus was referencing in Matthew 24:14 regarding the Gospel being proclaimed throughout the earth and then the end will come. The second angel was given an message regarding Babylon, the great prostitute as it were with whom the rulers of the world had committed immoral relations with. This faulty corrupt system will fall. Finally, a third angel follows with a pronouncement of eternal damnation against anyone who worships the beast and his image.

God is speaking to our world today, pleading them to give their hearts to Jesus. He desires that no man perish but all come to repentance (2 Pt 3:9b). We are His messengers, be faithful! Not only does He want to speak through us but also to us. Do you have an ear to hear? Don't close yourself off to His voice by being distracted by busyness. Set aside time to hear His voice daily. Listen intently and then do what He says. Amen?

Father we thank You for Your Word that speaks eternal truth to us. We thank You that You send messengers to us with what we need to hear, when we need to hear it. Keep our hearts in tune with Your Spirit and our ears open to Your instruction and our mouths ready to speak Your words to those whom You send us to. We surrender fully to You and Your will in Jesus name, amen.
