Revelation 14:1–3 (ESV): "Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, 3 and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth."God has the ability to preserve and protect anyone in any circumstance but He does so according to His will. Not everyone has the same fate. For Jesus, Gods will was to send Him to the Cross to become a ransom for many. The 144,000 during the Tribulation are preserved for the duration because this was the will of God. Our response should never be "why me" or "why not me" but it ought to be "Your will be done."
After seeing the unholy Trinity at work in the world John now sees Christ standing victorious. It was a preview of what was to come. With Him are the 144,000 from Revelation 7. Much like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego these Jewish believers were sealed and protected through the fire of the Tribulation and they stand in victory because they bore the name of the Father and the Son upon their foreheads. It's important to note it wasn't there denomination or sect of Christianity written in their foreheads that preserved them, it was the name of God the Father and God the Son along with the seal itself who is the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13-14). A special song was played on their behalf for they were the only ones who knew the words and could sing along.
God wants you to know that you are sealed too. Nothing can take you from His hand if you belong to Him. You don't need to be a certain sect of Christianity to ensure heaven, you just need to be in right relationship with God through His Son for Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him! (John 14:6). Don't look anywhere else for protection for the fires of Hell and most importantly follow Gods will no matter what.
Father we thank You for calling us into relationship with You. It's Your drawing that leads us to Your feet (Jn 6:44). We trust in Jesus alone for salvation and we rest in the sealing of the Spirit. Prepare us to stand victoriously with Christ in eternity we pray in Jesus name, amen!
