Psalm 70:5 (ESV): "5 But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!"
No one can rush God. He is like a master chef who knows the time and the correct amount of heat are the keys to success. Wait on God for He is working to bring you to a place of true change and infusing godly character in the wait (Jam 1:2-4).
In this psalm, David was asking God to make haste and deliver Him. He was saying, "hurry up Lord. I'm suffering and I want out of this situation now. Come do Your saving work now Lord." He understood God is the source of deliverance and salvation but was missing the fact that God's timing is different than ours. Mary and Martha asked Jesus to make haste and come quickly when Lazarus was sick and yet Jesus held off for two more days because He was going to do something miraculous (Jn 11).
Don't grow impatient with God in the midst of the battle friend. God is applying the right amount of heat and the right amount of time to bring you to a better place. It's for your good and His glory. So wait on God. Don't ask Him to hurry. Trust in Him as He does what is necessary in us to bring us to a better place. He is faithful and He will deliver...in His timing.
Father, thank You for being faithful to us. We know everything takes time. Although You could snap Your fingers and make all things better instantly You are doing a heart work in us. Let us wait on You to complete it. May we open our hearts and let You fashion and form us into the image of Christ. Give us the patience to wait on You to finish the good work in us, no matter how long it takes. We glorify You Lord have Your way we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
