Psalm 44:6-8

Psalm 44:6–8 (ESV): "6  For not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me. 7  But you have saved us from our foes and have put to shame those who hate us. 8  In God, we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah"

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Our salvation cannot come by any other means. We must trust in Christ alone for deliverance and victory over the enemy.

The psalmist begins to reflect back on the faithfulness of God to save the nation of Israel against her foes. It wasn't their military might or advanced weaponry that brought victory but their God. Therefore they boast in God continually and give thanks. Sadly, he goes on to describe an unfaithful Israel who abandons this trust and gratitude and now is experiencing the oppression of their enemies through the discipline of the Lord. Never forget God is a jealous God and He will share His glory with no one!

Are you in a place today where you find yourself romancing over the past because your present state is so hard? Look up Christian God hasn't left you, you left Him. Repent and turn back to the Lord. Your best days are ahead if you commit yourself to God wholeheartedly and remove your idols. The deliverance of our sin and the victory over the flesh can only come from one source, Jesus. Stop reminiscing and experience the best that God has for you now. He alone can save so turn to Him now and let Him once again show Himself strong on your behalf.

Father, thank You for saving us over and over again from ourselves. We would be desperately lost without You Lord. Forgive our pride and self-reliance. We trust in You alone today. May we never look to another to do what You alone can do. Have our hearts we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
