Psalm 37:4

Psalm 37:4 (ESV): "4  Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

The will of the Lord is found in delighting in Him. The more we delight in Him, the more clarity we will gain for the Lord's desires for our lives become our desires. The key is delighting in Him.

When David used the word "delight" he was describing a condition of the human heart that is softened and delicate before the Lord. When our hearts are in this state we seek Him above all else for He becomes our true pleasure and our choice delicacy. The more we delight the sweeter He becomes to us. In the midst of delighting God then gives us the desires of our heart. It's not to say He gives us whatever we want but rather He puts His desires, His will, His plan in our heart. This is a sure formula for spiritual prosperity.

Are you struggling today to understand God's plan for Your life? Are you lacking a clear vision and direction? Delight yourself in God, become soft, delicate, and dainty towards Him and you will gain clarity and direction regarding His will for you. David makes it clear "He WILL" give you His desires of your heart. You will naturally do His will for it becomes your sole desire. Augustine knew this well and thus he declared "love God and do what you want." For when God is the delight, the absolute love of your life your heart will become His heart and your desires His desires. Stop trying harder and start delighting more in Him and you will find His will for your life.

Father, thank You for making it so easy for us to pursue You! You didn't give us a list of ten things we must do to know Your will but made it very simple...delight in You. May You become the apple of our eye, the center of our lives. May everything we do revolve around what pleases You. Become the absolute delight of our hearts we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
