Psalm 33:1-3

Psalm 33:1–3 (ESV): "Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. 2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts."

Music was made not for our enjoyment but for our engagement. Music is our means of praise, thanksgiving, and worship.  Don't get that mixed up!

David was arguably the greatest worship leader to ever live. He wrote incredibly beautiful songs to the Lord.  He also wrote about his pain and problems. He understood that music was a means of us reaching up to God.  The enemy knows this, being a worship leader himself (Ez 28:13) he knows the purpose and power behind music. No wonder he attempts to hijack it and use it against us!

The music you listen to matters folks. It will either get you focused on the Lord or the world.  It will sway you to reach up or fall down.  Don't let the enemy rip you off by drawing you away with music that glorifies him rather than the Lord! Use music to reach up, to praise God, and give Him thanks. It's befitting of you to do so. Shout with joy and jubilation and sing to the Lord a new song.  After all, He is pretty wonderful!Amen?

Father, thank You for being such a good God to us. We don't deserve Your love or mercy, much less Your amazing grace.  May we continually sing to You alone and give You the worship You alone deserve. Forgive us for using music in the wrong ways. Let us use it only to reach up to You from this day forth we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
