Psalm 2:12

Psalm 2:12 (ESV): "12  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him."

God requires all human hearts to humble themselves before Him. We can do it willingly in this life and be blessed or we can be forced to in the life to come and experience the wrath of God for all of eternity. The choice is yours.

David begins this psalm by asking the question, "why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?" He tells us the kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord and His Anointed, speaking of Jesus. The reason man does this is because of pride. We are born with the heart of Satan who said, "I will become like the Most High God." Jesus came to redeem us from that. The way we do this is by "kissing" the Son. It literally means to humble yourself before Jesus as an inferior would kiss the king in submission to him. Those who do are blessed beyond measure. Those who don't will experience eternal damnation.

Take refuge in the Son today. Keep yourself in a place of humility before Him. Human pride is the root of all sin. Remember how Jesus humbled Himself and be like Him. He had all the rights in the world to rage against the injustice He experienced and yet He opened not His mouth. God is your protector and vengeance belongs to the Lord. Be steadfast in humility before Him and you will be extremely blessed!

Father, thank You for reminding us of the incredible dangers of pride. How easy it is for our human heart to be swayed by a false perception about who we are. Let us always bow low before You in submission and surrender to Your will we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
