Psalm 144:3 (ESV): "3 O Lord, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him?"
The love of God is so great for us that He not only acts on man's behalf but we occupy His thoughts. God thinks good thoughts about us constantly and never wishes evil upon us even though we offend Him with our sin. He wants to give us a future and a hope (Jer 29:11).
As David writes this psalm he can't help but be captivated by the idea that we would be on God's mind. Why would He regard us so highly considering our rebellious and sinful nature? David can't wrap his head around this reality because we have "all gone astray. No one understands, no one seeks for God, all have gone astray, together they have become worthless, no one is good, not even one (Rom 3:10-12)." And yet as amazed as he is, he doesn't reject the truth that this is the case. We are on God's mind.
Your Creator and Father want you to know that you're on His mind right now. No matter who you are or what you've done, He loves you and is thinking good thoughts towards you. He has a parental heart for you. He wants you to thrive and succeed. Although you have sinned against Him that doesn't stop Him from loving you. Let that truth hit you square in the heart today. You're on God's mind and you always will be because He loves you. Don't think for a moment He is waiting to punish You. He wants the very best for you. Sit at His feet today and tell Him how grateful you are to have a God and Father like Him.
Father, we thank You for thinking of us continually. May You occupy our minds as we do Yours. Remove any and all distractions that keep us from focusing on You. May You consume our thoughts and direct our steps daily. We love You and praise You for who You are and what You have done and continue to do in our lives in Jesus name we pray, amen.
