Psalm 115:1

Psalm 115:1 (ESV): "Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!"

God is worthy of all the praise in the world and then some. The temptation for every man is to take the glory for His handiwork.

The psalmist declares that no matter who you are or what you do that God deserves the praise for it. You could be a full-time minister, a teacher, or a janitor and the reality is that whatever you do well is a result of God gifting you to do it well thus God deserves the glory. Not to us! Be very quick to pass on all the glory given to you to God. He is the reason we are what we are.

Christians can become super awkward when complimented or praised. Let the accolades become an opportunity to give God all the glory. Be humble and thank the person but then give God the glory due to Him. He is faithful and steadfast and never failing and He enables and equips us for every good work. Why would we want to rob Him of the glory? Pass it on quickly and humbly.

Father, thank You for blessing us with skills and gifting to accomplish Your purpose for our lives. As we successfully walk in every good work You created us to walk in may we give You the glory. You deserve all that we can give You. May we quickly pass on the praise to You and make Your name the focus of every good thing we accomplish we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
