Psalm 107:21–22 (ESV): "21 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 22 And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!"
Our service to the Lord is how we thank Him for what He has done. The sacrificial offerings of our time, talents and treasure tells the real story of how grateful we are.
Psalm 107-119 were the psalms sung during the laying of the fountain of the second Temple under the leadership of Zerubbabel. These are songs that recount the faithfulness of God to Israel. Because of God's steadfast love and wonderous works they were freed from bondage and brought back into the land. Their response should be sacrificial service, shouts of jubilee, and sharing of what God has done.
If you're a Christian God has delivered You as well miraculously through the death and resurrection of His Son. Our response to this should be no different. We should be sacrificially servicing, shouting joyful declarations, and sharing with others what He has done. That is how we say Thank You to God. Serve Him with the best of your precious time, talents and treasure. It's not a sacrifice if it costs you nothing. Shout praises to Him often and let the world you live in know about Him. That is our reasonable service. Amen?
Father, "thank You" seems so insufficient when thinking of what You have done for us. Our lives would be destined for damnation had You not intervened. Help us to draw near to You with our hearts and not our lips. Direct us now in how we can serve You sacrificially with our time, talents, and treasure. May we shout praises to You and share our faith consistently. Use us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
