Proverbs 27:5-6

Proverbs 27:5–6 (ESV): "5 Better is open rebuke than hidden love. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy."

A person who truly loves you will not flatter you but will be totally honest with you. They will point out your strengths to encourage you and your weaknesses to help you grow.Be thankful for friends who truly love you.

Hidden love is a tragedy because it kills the ability to bless someone in ways that may change the trajectory of their life. We are all diamonds in the rough and we need the help of others to point out our strengths so we can be encouraged and uplifted. We also need the faithful wounds of a friend who will point out our weaknesses so we can grow and mature in those areas.Flattery will get your loved ones nowhere! However, honesty with love can change their life.

Find ways to encourage those you love and build a relationship that allows you the ability to speak into the weaknesses of their lives. Make sure you focus on both for only pointing out the good is flattery and only pointing out the bad is negativity.Be loving and honest and vulnerable with them so they can see your sincerity. And also be willing to receive as much as you give out.For no one is beyond needing to grow.Amen?

Father, we thank You that You don't hide Your love for us.You are faithful to reveal our strengths and weaknesses and for that we are grateful!Help us to allow Your love to flow through us in the same way. Give us words to encourage and also to help others mature by revealing shortcomings and weaknesses.Bring faithful friends into our lives as well so we can continue to grow we pray in Jesus name, amen.
