Proverbs 21:31

Proverbs 21:31 (ESV): "31  The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord."

The battle belongs to the Lord but we must be made ready if we want victory. God will do His part in fighting the battle we just have to show up.

There is a peculiar partnership between God and His children in this life. There are things only He can and will do and vice versa. When it comes to the spiritual battle only God can fight this battle for it is a war that is being waged in the spiritual realm. However, we still play a part. God won't do what we are called to do. So what are we called to do?

When it comes to the battles we face in this life we must be made ready meaning we must be suited up in the armor of God. Paul said it this way in Ephesians 6:10–11 (ESV): "10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." God won't make sure we are suited up for battle. If we are not we will experience the wounds of discouragement and possibly even far worse. God will do His part but we must do ours.

Take an active role in your relationship with God. Don't sit back and say "the battle belongs to You God", get ready, and stay ready. Seek the Lord in prayer and fasting. Be prepared to speak forth His Word. Walk by faith not by sight. These are the things only you can do. Victory belongs to the Lord but we must do our part! Amen?

Father, we thank You for victory over every principality and power, and over every ruler of darkness and force of evil in the heavenly places. We want to be made ready, to do our part when it comes to the spiritual battle. Help us to remain suited up in the armor of God. May we never take off our armor and allow the enemy an opportunity for victory we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
