Philippians 4:4-5

Philippians 4:4–5 (ESV): "4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand."

Living with the expectancy of the imminent return of Christ changes how we think and how we live. We rejoice always knowing that every event that occurs brings us one step closer to the Rapture and Second Coming. We also respond gently to those around us because our minds are set on things above and not on the things of this world.

Quarreling in Christ is an oxymoron but it still happens for believers don't always see eye to eye. Paul and Barnabas had a strong disagreement about bringing John Mark on their second missionary journey. In Philippi, two ladies named Euodia and Syntyche were divided about something. Paul commands them to agree in the Lord for He is at hand! He offers the cure for such disputes, to focus on the fact that the Lord is at hand. We will rejoice in all things and respond gently when we focus on His soon return.

Are you living like Jesus could return today? That seems to put everything into perspective for us. The Lord is at hand Christian. Stop focusing on foolish things that take you off mission. The enemy wants to keep your mind and heart focused on the temporal things of this life. Get your mind on things above and your ability to rejoice in all things and respond gently to all people will be much easier. The Lord is at hand so live like it.

Father, thank You for constantly reminding us that Jesus is coming soon. May we live with expectancy that we will see Him for it will help us major in the majors and rejoice in all things. Fill us overflowing that we might be the representatives You are calling us to be we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
