Philippians 3:13-14

Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV): "13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

"Never forget where you came from," they say. It helps a person stay grounded. Christians should always remember that the only thing that we have going for us is Jesus, but in Him we have everything. Therefore, we should strive toward Christ who is our prize.

Having confidence in the flesh rather than trusting Jesus is a danger for all believers. We can begin to think we've arrived. The reality is that we must pursue Jesus all the days of our lives with everything we've got for without Him we are lost. He is the door! He is the resurrection and life. It's only in Him that we can obtain eternal life. Never fool yourself into thinking you've come far enough in Christ. Pursue His likeness with maximum effort for this is the upward call and Christ is our prize.

Are you striving to obtain Christ-likeness? Have you begun to trust in the flesh to be conformed to the image of Christ? We must apply spiritual sweat to our walk to become like Jesus. It's a lifelong pursuit and one we should never stop focusing on. Jesus is our only hope but we have all the hope in the world in Him. Don't look back, press on. He is sufficient to sustain and carry You across the finish line. Amen?

Father, we thank You for being our all in all. We lack nothing in You. May we pursue the upward call with all diligence and effort that we might become more like You Son. Fill us overflowing with Your Spirit we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
