Philippians 2:9-11

Philippians 2:9–11 (ESV): "9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Have you ever wondered why Jesus was exalted and given the name above every other name? It might not be for the reason you think. He was exalted because He humbled Himself. Humility is the key to Jesus being exalted and it will be the reason why you are exalted too!

God gave us Jesus but Jesus had a choice whether or not He was going to give Himself to us. It would take massive humility for Jesus to be in the form of God but not count equality with God. It would take massive humility for Jesus to empty Himself, by taking the form of a servant. The greatest manifestation of His humility was found in Jesus becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. it was for these reasons that Jesus was given the name above every other name. Every knee will bow to King Jesus because of His humility.

What can God do with you if you are willing to walk in humility? Take on the mind of Christ today. Be humble and walk in obedience to the Spirit. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The fastest way up is down. Live at the feet of Jesus and He will lift you up. Amen?

Father, all glory, honor, and power belong to You. Who are we that You are mindful of us? Keep us humble Lord. May we bow often and bend to Your will always so that we might be used to bring You glory we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
