Philippians 2:3-4

Philippians 2:3–4 (ESV): "3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Who has two thumbs and a tendency to be selfish as all get out? 🫵 The flesh has one operating look out for numero uno. The Spirit empowers us to be like Jesus who walked in humility and considered others more significant than Himself and looked not to His own interests but also to the interest of others. May we forsake our flesh and walk in the Spirit. Amen?

Unity always costs us something. For the body of Christ to become and remain unified we must first die to ourselves. God calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves. That is because selflessness produces a bond in unity like no other. It takes humility and the Holy Spirit's power to walk like this. Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient to death for us. How much more should we humble ourselves and die to ourselves for the sake of unification in Him? Let NOTHING be done out of selfish ambition or conceit!

How are you doing walking in humility toward others Christian? Are you more concerned about what you are giving up than what you are gaining as you consider others' interests more than your own? Our goal should be unification at the cost of selfish ambition and conceit. May we let humility produce in us selflessness to the point of giving up ourselves for the sake of others just like Jesus did! This is possible through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Die to self today that others might be exalted and the body of Christ might be unified like Jesus prayed we would be.

Father, thank You for instructing us that life is not about us but about others. May we walk in step with the Spirit and be unified with the body of Christ for Your glory we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
