Numbers 9:22–23 (ESV): "22 Whether it was two days, or a month, or a longer time, that the cloud continued over the tabernacle, abiding there, the people of Israel remained in camp and did not set out, but when it lifted they set out. 23 At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out. They kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by Moses."
God has never called leaders into His fold only followers. The most successful Christian isn't the one who leads well but follows well.
God led the Children of Israel around the desert for forty years during which He instructed them that when the pillar of cloud was settled upon the Tabernacle they were to stay put but the moment it lifted they were to pack up and follow Him to a different spot. It took them forty years to learn to follow. Perhaps if they had learned the lesson sooner they may have gone into the Promised Land sooner.
The Lord knows some of us don't have another forty years to learn what it means to follow. Christian, perhaps your biggest issue isn't what you're doing but what you're not doing. Stop trying to blaze your own trail and start walking on the path God has set before you. We don't have time to waste. Don't lead God, follow Him. Wait on His instruction and move only when Hs tells you to move. The greatest lesson we can learn on this earth is the lesson of following Him. Follow well!
Father, we thank You for leading us in this life. Thank You for directing our steps even when we are veering off path. Help us to stop leading and start following You. We know our only call from You is to follow so help us to follow hard after You we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
