Nahum 3:18-19

Nahum 3:18–19 (ESV): "18  Your shepherds are asleep, O king of Assyria; your nobles slumber. Your people are scattered on the mountains with none to gather them. 19  There is no easing your hurt; your wound is grievous. All who hear the news about you

clap their hands over you. For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil?"

Everyone is following someone. If that is true (which it is) then who you follow matters. Don't be like the Assyrians (Ninevehites) who were led astray by their leaders. Find mentors who stick to the Word of God and imitate them as they imitate Christ (1 Cor 11:1).

God blames the leaders and noblemen of Assyria for leading the people away from repentance and back to bondage. Because they abandoned the message of Jonah and worshipped idols God pronounced utter destruction upon this nation. This demonstrates that God does not just pronounce judgment upon individuals but also nations.

We are living under leadership in our country that is legislating sin and condemning Biblical Christianity. We are to honor authority for it is from God (Rom 13:1-2) but not follow unbiblical practices and counsel. There will be judgment upon our land if we do not turn from our wicked ways. Folks in the church should be the first to turn. Who are you following Christian? Jesus said we are not of this world (Jn 15:19) so don't get sucked into it! Follow Jesus and people who follow Jesus and all will go well with you. Amen?

Father, we thank You for Biblical leaders and mentors who walk and guide according to Your Word. If we are not following along the right path help us to repent and turn to You first and then direct us to Biblical mentors and guides we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
