Micah 6:8

Micah 6:8 (ESV): "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

Have you ever wondered what God expects of you?God explains to Micah there are three things the Lord requires of us: to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God.

This message comes at a time when the people of Judah were prosperous and prideful and oppressing the poor. They had forgotten why they were prospering.Sometimes we forget and thankfully the Lord is faithful to remind us.Here Micah tells the people to do justice, meaning to act justly amongst each other. It literally means to do what is right!Secondly, to love kindness. This means to act lovingly by being merciful. To have compassion on those around you. And lastly, to walk humbly before your God. This is no doubt the most important of the three for if you aren't walking humbly before God it will be impossible to do the other two. This literally means to be careful to live the way God calls us to live.

Perhaps you have forgotten what is required of you Christian. It doesn't change with the New Covenant.God requires us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind and love our neighbor as ourself (Matt 22:38-40). The call is the same in Micah 6:8. So do it! No holding back. Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly before your God.

Father, we thank You for Your grace Lord. We definitely get what we don't deserve. You are so merciful and loving towards us. Change our hearts to be merciful and loving towards those around us.Humble our hearts Lord. May we be obedient to the Spirit and Your Word we pray in Jesus name, amen!
