Matthew 6:33

Matthew 6:33 (ESV): "33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

The necessities of life can become our focus but Jesus tells us not to worry about these things. Our focus should be the kingdom of God and His righteousness. When we get this right we will have nothing to worry about.

Jesus ministered to a lot of different people all at once all the time. Poor people, rich people, those with influence, and those without. The needs for each of them were the same. It wasn't what they would eat or drink, or what they would wear that they should be consumed with, even though they all needed these things. It was God's kingdom and His righteousness. Jesus is saying that our greatest need is not to preserve this life but prepare for the next.

How much time and effort do you spend concerning yourself with what you will eat or drink or what you will wear? Didn't God say He would give you these things? Stop obsessing about having excess and focus your efforts on the kingdom and living righteously for Him. Don't quit your job or anything, but at the same time don't make your career your sole focus. The Lord will provide for the person that is seeking Him first and His righteousness. It doesn't mean we will have zero sufferings but it will mean He will show up right on time, amen?

Father, You alone are our provider. Forgive us for trying to provide for ourselves and becoming obsessed with that. May we keep our eyes on the prize and live for Your kingdom and pursue righteousness we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
