Matthew 6:19-21

Matthew 6:19–21 (ESV): "19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Whatever you are living for will make its way to the center of your life. It will become the consumer of your time and talents. It's crucial then that we put the right thing in the center!

Jesus speaking to a group of pirates talks treasure with them. Not really but He does talk about the things that people value the most and how that will occupy the heart and direct their steps. He reminds man not to focus on earthly things for they will one day be nonexistent but heavenly things will last forever thus we should focus on heavenly things!

What is sitting in the center of your heart driving your steps? Is it money, possessions, or position? These things are all necessary and they have a place in our lives, just not the center. The center is where Jesus should reside. He should be the prize we are after! Not because we are rewarded for everything we do for Him but because He alone deserves that position. May He be the one directing every step we take on earth and the one determining how we spend our time and talents before He calls us home. Consider what resides in the center of your heart and respond appropriately. Amen?

Father, we thank You for all that You have done to tell us how important we are to You. We are Your treasure in a sense. May You be ours! Help us to store our treasures up in heaven. Keep us focused on Kingdom things so that You can get the most glory out of our lives as possible we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
