Matthew 28:17-20

Matthew 28:17–20 (ESV): 18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

It's been said that evangelism without discipleship is criminal. That is why Jesus called His followers to make disciples not converts. This requires teaching others what you know! Don't just share your faith acutely with people. Walk with them as much as you can so they flourish and not falter!

When the disciples met Jesus in Galilee He gave them the Great Commission. It was not a suggestion but a command. They were to Go, Evangelize (make disciples), Baptize, and Disciple (teach)! This would be crucial to the Gospel moving forward. Jesus entrusted into their hands the only words that can save and then commissioned them to spread it like wildfire. The promise is that He would be with them as they spread the Gospel.

How often do you talk about Jesus outside of Church? Do people know you're a Christian at your workplace and in your neighborhood? If not, you might want to consider your walk with the Lord. Evangelism and discipleship shouldn't be things we are forced to do but things we can't help but to do. Paul said, "For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel (1 Cor 9:16)!" The fulfillment of the Great Commission is a direct result of your relationship with Jesus. If you are struggling with it today press into Jesus more. He will give you a heart that cares more about the eternal state of others than the temporary opinions people might have of you in this life. Go, Evangelize (make disciples), Baptize and Disciple (teach), amen?

Father, thank You for sending others into our path by way of the Great Commission that we were able to come to know You and be dsicpled in You. May we become a blessing to others who need to know You. Give us opportunities and boldness to be Your witnesses throughout all the world we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
