Matthew 27:13-14

Matthew 27:13–14 (ESV): "13 Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?" 14 But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed."

We have a million accusers in this life. It would take an eternity to answer all of their indictments against us. There is only One we need to answer to therefore let us not waste our time trying to defend ourselves before fallen man.

When Jesus was brought before Pilate It was made known the accusations that were spoken of Him. Pilate asked if Jesus was the King of the Jews. Jesus replied, "You have said so." Pilate then marveled because Jesus remained silent at all the false testimony that was spoken against Him. Jesus knew His best defense was God Almighty. He put His total trust in the Father and was content to let come what may.

When someone is arrested they have the right to remain silent. Often that is the best defense, to say nothing. The same holds true for the Christian. We can put our trust in the Lord and He will defend us. It requires serious humility to remain silent when being slandered against. Don't stand up for yourself. Let the Lord stand up for you. He is all the defense we need. We can learn a whole lot from Jesus' response to His accusers here. He remained silent, may we do the same, amen?

Father, we thank You for being our defender against all accusers. May we never allow our reputation to get in the way of making Your name great. Help us to remain silent and allow You a platform to show Yourself strong we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
