Matthew 26:74-75

Matthew 26:74–75 (ESV): "74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly."

The fear of man will make us do some messed-up stuff. If we allow our minds to be focused on this world and not on the things above the outcome will be catastrophic, ask Peter. Fear God and keep your heart centered on Him and you won't have anything to worry about.

After Jesus was arrested Peter followed behind him and sat outside the courtyard to see what would happen with Jesus. A servant girl noticed him and said "you also were with Jesus the Galilaean." Peter denied it. Then he went outside to the entrance and he was spotted again by another servant girl and Peter denied being with Jesus a second time. A little while later another bystander said to him, "Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you." Peter began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed.

Have you ever heard that rooster crow? If so know the source of your denial was the fear of man. When we allow man the wrong position in our hearts we will deny Jesus. Keep the Lord on the throne of your heart and fear no one else but Him and you will be willing to give your life up for Jesus just like Peter eventually did. Fear God and never man, amen?

Father, we thank You for who You are. Let us never diminish Your presence in our lives by giving man an elevated place. Help us to love them but worship only You always. Help us to properly fear you all the days of our lives we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
