Matthew 26:33-35

Matthew 26:33–35 (ESV): "33 Peter answered him, "Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away." 34 Jesus said to him, "Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." 35 Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!" And all the disciples said the same."

Talk is cheap! We can say all kinds of things but our actions tell the real story. Our only hope to succeed in what we say is to depend on the Holy Spirit for empowerment to be faithful for we are weak but He is strong.

After Jesus broke bread and shared with His disciples one of them would betray Him they went up to the Mount of Olives. Jesus then revealed that they would all fall away when He was arrested. Peter claimed he would not but Jesus told him that before the rooster crows he would deny him three times. Peter then said he would die before he denied Jesus.

We can be genuine and sincere with our words but that isn't always enough. We need power from on high to live the life we are called to. Peter was reliant on himself and he failed just like Jesus said he would. Don't make that same mistake. We must rely on the Spirit if we want to be found faithful. Don't trust in yourself Christian. Walk in the Spirit and you will not fall away. Even when your life is on the line. Amen?

Father, we thank You for helping us see that the flesh talks big but can't follow through. Keep us reliant on the power from on high. Fill us with an outpouring of Your Spirit this day and help us to walk in obedience to You through every circumstance we find ourselves. Keep us faithful we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
