Matthew 22:36-40

Matthew 22:36–40 (ESV): 36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."

Trying to entrap Jesus never works. He is God! He is perfect and will never falter when it comes to giving the right answer and in the profoundness of His words, we will always find the truth being spoken in love.

The Pharisees and Sadducees banded together to try and trick Jesus with questions. The Sadducees failed with their question regarding the resurrection (which they didn't even believe in). Thus, the Pharisees tried with the law. They asked Jesus what the most important commandment was. He replied, "love God with everything you are and love your neighbor as yourself." Boom roasted!

It's fine to ask Jesus innocent questions but don't think for a second you will ever be able to roast Him for being anything less than perfect. He knows the Word because He is the Word! Ask Him anything but don't be surprised if the answer is pointed right back at you. He doesn't play. I love that about the Lord. He won't be mocked but at the same time, He always tells me what I need to hear! Love the Lord, love His people. Amen?

Father, we thank You for being so real with us always. You never hold back the truth from us and always speak in pure love even when our intent is malicious. May we be the same towards those who are trying to trip us up. Help us to love You and love people we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
