Matthew 11:28-30

Matthew 11:28–30 (ESV): "28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Religion kills! It places burdens upon the shoulders of man that are unbearable. The weight of the rules buries him for he can't possibly succeed in its requirements. Thankfully God desires a relationship with us and calls us to a grace-filled reconciliation where we can find rest from our guilt and shame.

The religious rulers of Jesus' day were placing such great demands upon the people who desired to follow God that they couldn't fulfill. Jesus seeing those who were heavy ladened with the law cries out, "Come to me." It's an invitation to a relationship where you can find peace and rest from the rigors of religion. There is still a yoke when you come to Jesus, an obligation to live for Him, but it's easy and light in comparison to the burden of religion.

Are you burdened today from your religious efforts to be made right with God? Do you think you can find more favor with Him because of what you do? Jesus says abandon all those thoughts and just come to Him. He is ready to receive you no matter where you are and give rest. Come to Jesus today friend you won't be disappointed, amen?

Father, we thank You for being relational and not religious towards us. You met us in our darkness through Your Son Jesus and invite us into Your light. Help us to remain relational towards You and to always take upon Your yoke for it is easy and light in Jesus' name we pray, amen.
