Mark 8:32-33

Mark 8:32–33 (ESV): And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man."

The greatest battle we face is not external but internal. It's a battle of the mind for whatever a man thinks in his heart (Heb means mind) so he is (Prov 23:7). If we want to fulfill the will of God we must keep our minds on things above (Col 3:2),

After Jesus healed the blind man in Bethsaida He came to Caesarea Philippi and began speaking plainly about His death and resurrection. Peter took Jesus aside to scold Him for talking in such a manner but Jesus rebuked Peter and told him he was operating in the spirit of Satan who cared more about himself than the will of God. Peter's mind was focused on earthly things and not on the things of God.

Is your only thought at the hint of a trial "Lord take this cup from me" or do you continue as Jesus did, "nevertheless not my will but Yours be done". The mind of a person who cares only about how things are going to affect them is a man-centered mind. Our minds should be focused on the things of God and what He might want to accomplish through our trials. Get your mind right Christian. Focus on His will and you will never have to worry about Jesus calling you Satan, amen?

Father, all glory, honor, and praise be to You. Your ways are greater and Your will is our aim. Help us to keep our minds stayed on You that we can obtain perfect peace and walk in Your will we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
