Mark 11:24-25

Mark 11:24–25 (ESV): 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

Nothing hinders prayers like doubt and unforgiveness. Jesus expects us to believe in what we are asking for and be in the right relationship with others when we petition before His throne.

After Jesus cleansed the Temple He went by the fig tree that He cursed as He was coming into Jerusalem and Peter proclaimed, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered." Jesus respond to Peter that it was faith in God that caused this and that if we have faith like this when we pray, not doubting we can tell a mountain to be thrown into the sea and it will happen. He also mentioned that forgiveness is an important part of seeing your prayers answered for it will hinder a right standing before God.

Have you ever felt like your prayers weren't being answered? It can certainly be because we are praying against the will of God. However, Jesus says doubt and unforgiveness will hinder them as well. When we pray with God's faith believing for what we are asking for we will have it. It's not a human faith we need to pray with but divine faith, God's faith. God is the source and object of our faith.

Unforgiveness will also hinder our prayers. When we come to God we must come confessing and repenting with the expectation of God forgiving us. When we are harboring unforgiveness while asking for God to align our hearts with His our prayers are hindered. It's hypocritical to receive God's forgiveness but then withhold it from others. He will not forgive you if you are unwilling to forgive others. Pray with God's faith and forgiveness and you will be positioned properly for your prayers to be answered. Amen?

Father, thank You for giving us all we need for life and godliness. Search our hearts and reveal anything that is hindering our prayers from being heard. Fill us with Your faith and forgiveness that we might truly be free in our petitioning we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
