Luke 9:62

Luke 9:62 (ESV): "62 Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."

It's been said that hindsight is 20/20. A person can look back on their life and often see much clearer but hindsight is not always beneficial. Particularly when it is stopping you from moving forward. Ask Lot's wife…

Jesus calls His disciples to be forward-focused people. He knows that holding on to the past is a momentum killer. When people look back on the past with longing, as if the "good ole days" were something of the past, they will not be fit to carry the vision of the Kingdom forward because their heart is divided. No one who puts his hand to the plow of the Kingdom and looks back with longing is worthy of the kingdom.

Is your heart divided Christian? Do you count it ALL as loss or are you holding on to the past as if they were the glory days? Kingdom-minded people are forward-focused people. They believe their best days are ahead not behind. Jesus is calling us to leave it all behind and follow Him with a whole heart. Put your hand to the plow then and do not look back! Amen?

Father, we thank You for changed lives. We are grateful that our best days are ahead of us. May our minds and hearts be undivided as we move forward in proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom. Protect us from ever looking back with longing we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
