Luke 9:12–13 (ESV): "13 But he said to them, "You give them something to eat." They said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people."
The follower of Christ must keep watch over his/her attitude lest we forsake those whom we are called to minister to. We were called by grace and we must walk in grace towards those God has put in our path if we want to be used by Him.
Serving people is a thankless job most of the time. The multitudes were made up of mostly takers, but that never stopped Jesus from ministering to them. He didn't minister because people were worthy to be served. He did it because He had a genuine love for people and grace compelled Him to. He was a servant to others! If we want to minister like Jesus we must become like Him in attitude and heart.
How do you view those that God puts in your path to minister to? Do you see them as annoyances or opportunities to display the grace and love of Christ? If your expectation is to be patted on the back for what you do you are missing the point. You know you're a true servant when you are treated like one. Ask God to fill your heart with compassion and grace that you can love those He brings genuinely and freely. It's the best representation of Jesus! Amen?
Father, we thank You for those who challenge us to dig deep and remain in character. They are sent by You to help us grow. Let us not grow weary in doing good. Fill us with Your heart for all and equip our hands and feet to serve them well in Jesus' name, amen.
