Luke 6:21 (ESV): "21 "Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied."
What drives you to get up and get out in the world? What are you passionate about? Hunger is what drives us to do what we do. If we desire to be spiritual champions we must have a hunger for His character and likeness. Jesus promises that those who hunger like this will be satisfied.
"Oh how happy" are those who hunger? It's a strange statement in a culture and world where hunger was prevalent. In ancient Judea, poor people were everywhere. There was a social system in a sense but no governmental help. The physically hungry were dependent upon the spiritually satisfied. Jesus declares to this culture, Blessed are you who hunger now (present tense) for you shall (future tense), be satisfied. It's a promise of spiritual satiety.
If you've lost "the eye of the tiger" spiritually speaking, the way to regain it is to set your eyes on things above. Spiritual demotivation happens to those who have their sites set on the things of this world. Make Jesus the prize you are seeking and your spiritual hunger will return and you will be satisfied. Amen?
Father, we thank You for Your drive and passion. We are created in Your image and You are consistently driven to save and sanctify us. May we be driven to live for You. Forgive us for losing site at times. Reignite us even now to live hungry for Your character and nature we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
