Luke 23:18-19

Luke 23:18–19 (ESV): "18 But they all cried out together, "Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas"— 19 a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and for murder."

Jesus came to take the place of every vile sinner on planet earth. This became evident when He took the place of Barabbas, a rebel and murderer. He will trade places with anyone for the sake of their salvation. This is why He came.

The world is not full of good people who occasionally do bad things but bad people who occasionally do good things. This is why Jesus came to earth because we were lost with no hope outside of a sacrifice standing in the gap for us. When Jesus was on trial the religious leaders and multitude begged Pilate to release Barabbas, a known sinner, rather than Jesus. They played right into Satan's hand, little did they all know that this is why He had come.

Did you know that He who knew no sin became sin that you and I might become the righteousness of God? This is called the great exchange, Christ's righteousness for your sin! He took our place on the cross. We deserved death and Hell but He came to give us life and that more abundantly. Be grateful today Christain. Jesus has paid the price for your redemption. Rejoice and be glad for it is finished for all who would believe in Him and make Him Lord. Amen?

Father, we are forever grateful for all that You've done for us. Forgive us for taking lightly the sacrifice that was made for us at times. May we reflect daily on the grace given to us through the great exchange on the cross. May we live our lives worthy of the price paid we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
