Luke 12:20-21

Luke 12:20–21 (ESV): "20 But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God."

Perspective and purpose go hand in hand. You can't know your God-given purpose without the proper perspective (worldview). Spend less time seeking purpose and more time seeking perspective. It will save you a lot of grief and keep you from wasting your life.

The American dream is an ethos filled with the pursuit of freedom, prosperity, and success. Many seek this with maximum effort and laser focus, willing to do almost anything to achieve it. Success may come but at what expense? Jesus teaches us to keep our earth pursuits in perspective. We must not focus on the here and now but eternity. We must not work our whole lives to store up things on earth, but our treasures are to be stored up in heaven. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mk 8:36-37)"

Christian, are you maintaining the proper perspective in life? You are not of this world. God is calling us to live for the Kingdom to come. The Word of God gives us the right perspective so we can understand our purpose. Stop following your heart...follow Jesus. Let Him change your perspective for only then you will find your true purpose. Amen?

Father, we thank You for meeting us where we are daily. Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path! May we allow it to shape our perspective so that we can find our purpose and live it out. Fill us with Your Spirit and continually direct us on Your path we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
