Lamentations 3:24-25

Lamentations 3:24–25 (ESV): "24  "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." 25  The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him."

We have been given an inheritance through Jesus Christ. Most think the inheritance is heaven and it's not wrong to say that isn't wrong to say but in reality, our true inheritance is eternity with God Himself. Our reconciliation isn't to a place but a person. God Almighty is our treasure and prize forever and ever, amen!

It's not an easy task to remember our portion in hard times. The writer of Lamentations just finished declaring his state of hopelessness (Lam 3:18) and yet everything changed when he remembered the steadfast unfailing love and never-ending mercies of God (Lam 3:22-23). His hope was restored and with that the thought of inheritance. He declares, "the Lord is my portion, therefore I will hope." Though hardships will continue, he is reminded that patience will yield contentment at the very soul level of a person who waits on Him and seeks Him and his thoughts will be upon His portion forever and ever which makes it all worth it.

The thought of heaven is wonderful. We think of streets of gold, angelic beings singing of the holiness of God day and night. There is no place in all of creation that compares to heaven. The reason it is so special is not because of its atmosphere and environment but because of who inhabits it. God is what makes heaven what it is. He is our inheritance and when we arrive at the pearly gates the only thing that will captivate us is His presence. Nothing else will matter at that moment. Let your mind ponder on the wonder of the great inheritance we have been given through Christ. Our inheritance isn't a place but a person! Oh, how marvelous that day will be when we finally realize it face to face, Amen?

Father, we thank You for the glorious hope of heaven through Your Son Jesus Christ. We can't wait to be in Your presence and to see You face to face. As awesome as heaven is, it is nothing without You. We long to receive the glorious inheritance that we have been given through Your Son. Let our souls be fixated on this thought that they can be encouraged as we wait for that glorious day we pray in Jesus name, amen.
