John 9:1-3

John 9:1–3 (ESV): "As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" 3 Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him."

Not everything we experience in life has direct correlation to reaping what we sow, sometimes our experience is for the sole purpose of bringing more glory to our Great God and Savior.

In ancient Biblical times disease, deformity and disability were associated with Gods punishment.  If you were deaf, dumb or diseased people would say God was judging sin in your life or the life of your parents.  Jesus' disciples had that worldview hence the reason they asked Him "who sinned, the parents of the child", when passing by a man blind from birth.Jesus responded, "neither", that must have rocked them.  Jesus goes on to tell them he was born that way for the glory of God, that when he would be healed God would be glorified and God was glorified!

Have you ever considered that perhaps the thing you most dislike about yourself was given to you for the purpose of bringing glory to God?  Some weakness, illness, disability...could it be that God gets more glory through you as a result of that?  May we seek to bring Him the utmost glory, even at the expense of our own ease, comfort and pleasure!

Father, to You be glory and honor and majesty forever and ever.  We want to magnify Your glorious name in all the earth so use our lives, our frailty, our weakness to bring glory to You.  Whatever it takes Father do it, that Your name might be praised by all who see Your glorious hand at work through us in Jesus name we pray, amen!
