John 5:30

John 5:30 (ESV): "30 "I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me."

The reality that Jesus was completely dependent upon the Father should humble us. If He could do NOTHING on His own, how much less will we accomplish on our own. His will is what we desire and by His strength, we will accomplish it.

The Jews desired to kill Jesus because He spoke contrary to their teaching and He claimed to be the Son of God which they understood to mean He was God in the flesh. They weren't wrong about that but they wouldn't receive it because their hearts weren't properly postured before the Lord. They were operating in their own strength and will, unlike Jesus. He was surrendered to the Father and He only did and said what the Father would have Him do.

How many times must we learn the lesson that nothing good can come out of our strength or will? Even having compassion for someone God is disciplining can mess up what He is trying to accomplish. We must be in tune with the will of God and operate in His strength and not our own. As you step out into the world today pray for eyes to see the Father's will in every situation and ask for the strength to accomplish it. He will honor that prayer. Amen?

Father, we thank You for this day that You have given us. We surrender to Your will and ask that You give us eyes to see it in every situation. Strengthen us for the work You have before us, may we do nothing outside of Your plan we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
